I heard this song on Spotify, and it reminded me of where I am in my journey right now. I've been hurt and threatened, like the Dixie Chicks were. While our circumstances are different, the harms we suffered are similar in so many ways. I'm not ready to forgive anyone who is unable to acknowledge the harm they've done, and I'm not sure I'll ever forget how isolating and silencing it is to be the victim of a hate crime. This song is meaningful to me for these reasons.
